An award-winning entrepreneur, Mia Pearson is widely regarded as a pioneer in the Canadian communications world.

As the co-founder of North Strategic, Canada’s fastest growing national public relations and social media agency, Pearson works with many of the most beloved Canadian and international brands.

Two years after starting North, Pearson launched Notch Video, with designs on disrupting the traditional ad agency model. Notch has been doubling in size every year since inception. Today, Pearson’s companies are working with Twitter, Canadian Tire, Samsung, Cadillac Fairview, airbnb, Rogers, shomi, Canada Goose and others.

Pearson credits her work placement opportunities at Humber for helping her to identify what she loved to do, teaching her the importance of following her passion and building a career she truly loves. Humber’s reputation as one of the top colleges for PR interns enabled her to gain invaluable experience at one of Canada’s leading agencies, kick-starting her career.

The creative work Pearson has done on behalf of her clients has helped put Canadian companies on the international map. North’s groundbreaking work on the Sport Chek Social Flyer program – a move to digitize the brand’s traditional paper flyer – was one of only two Canadian campaigns to win a coveted global 2014 Facebook Studio Award.

Pearson is dedicated to helping women with their professional growth, generously giving her time to mentorship initiatives through the Women’s Executive Network. She works with University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management Judy Project, which provides executive women the skills they need to be highly effective and inspiring leaders. Pearson regularly co-hosts Women in Leadership retreats, an experience that allows female executives to build their personal brand and to develop their career plan. She has also been a mentor to hundreds of communications professionals investing in future generation of leaders.
